STEPHEN SATORY has taught piano and theory (harmony, counterpoint and analysis) at the Royal Conservatory of Music since 1980 and has worked as an examiner in piano and theory. He earned an M. A. (1983) and Ph.D. (1991) in music at the University of Toronto. He has appeared in public as a solo pianist and chamber musician, as well as a choral conductor and singer. He is the author of First-Year Harmony, a textbook that has been used at the Royal Conservatory, at Scarborough College and at York University and has presented numerous harmony workshops in Canada and in the United States.
