Sheila McLean is a graduate of the Royal Conservatory of Music(1989) and Wilfrid Laurier University (1984). While at Wilfrid Laurier, she had the pleasure of studying piano with Ralph Elsaesser. She later completed her teachers ARCT and Piano Pedagodgy with Earl Moss at the Royal Conservatory of Music.
Sheila has been an active member of the Ontario Registered Music Teachers' Association (ORMTA) since joining in 2005. Through this association, she enjoys the added benefits of recitals and competitions for her students, and the opportunity to collaborate with other teachers.
Sheila strives to instill her own love of music in students of all ages. In addition to teaching privately, she has also taught group classes. She introduced the City of Scarborough, and the Town of Aurora to her own recreational music programmes entitled "Music Babies, Music Buddies and Music Kids" (1986-2002), and has taught Francis Balodis' successful "Music For Young Children" programme.(1986-1996) She has been a choir leader, pianist/organist at various churches for many years.
Currently, Sheila maintains a busy music studio, teaching all levels of piano, and group theory classes. In an effort to expand her students' love of music and music making, she has continued the tradition of small group classes by meeting with her students once a month, allowing them the opportunity to perform for their peers, develop ear training, and experience the fun of duet and trio playing.
