In 1988, Sophia made her debut as a singer, performing at a High School Music Competition and was voted the Best Female Vocal Performer. The soprano Sophia is experienced at performing arias, musicals, pop music, and folk songs.
In 1991, at the McMaster University Kiwanis Music Festival in Hamilton, she won a scholarship. The scholarship allowed Sophia to study music at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, majoring in piano.
Sophia graduated from the Royal Conservatory of Music of Toronto where she studied at the Glenn Gould Professional School. After graduation, she became a faculty member at the New Conservatory of Music from 1994 to 2000.
Sophia has been teaching children and adults Piano and Rudiments of Theory for 17 years. Many of her students have successfully passed RCM exams from grade one to ARCT level and have participated in competitions, music festivals, student recitals, and university graduation concerts.
Currently, Sophia teaches at MUSICA Music School in East York and has been an adjudicator at the annual New Conservatory of Music Festival since 2001.
