Etobicoke Mississauga Branch Newsletter - January 2004

Message from the President

Dear Colleagues,

As we begin 2004, I extend to all of you warmest greetings and wish you all personal successes. If anyone wins big time in a lottery, perhaps one could assist our bottom line financially to facilitate our achievement of goals!!! Forgive my sense of levity, but as I am writing this, I am aware of the extreme cold outside, including the wind factor, which sets the temperature around minus 23 degrees!

We urgently need to fill some volunteer job vacancies. The assessments are a wonderful opportunity for your students to perform and for their teachers to volunteer to help provide assistance the day of the auditions. Please do volunteer.

We are now ready to start a new year with many activities in place, including potluck dinner, assessments, workshops, scholarship recital and of course our annual general meeting. Please make a note of these, they are listed under the Schedule of Activities.

I wish to highlight a special recognition to Virginia Taylor who has been selected for the Special Teacher Award that is to be awarded July 26, 2004 at the ORMTA Provincial Convention, held July 25-July 28, Kitchener-Waterloo. Please look for further details in the ORMTA NOTES.

I would like to give a warm welcome to new members: Lisa Iwasaki, Irina Semenova-Thain, Ksenijo Rakic and Becky Yuan.

I have taken the liberty to draw your attention to some inaccuracies that have occurred and some changes of addresses and telephone numbers. Please make the appropriate note of these important corrections. If there are any members who have any changes now or in the near future in this regard, including email address, please let me know.

We had a wonderful social outing at Christmas with 25 including many of our significant others in attendance at Alice Fazooli’s. I thank all who contributed door prizes and ask everyone to make a mental note to circle early next December 2004 for our next Christmas outing.

Wishing everyone a great 2004,

Fran Macerollo, President
