Mimi Spencer holds an ARCT in Piano Performance and the Teacher's ARCT in Advanced Pedagogy Diploma from the Royal Conservatory of Music. She studied piano performance at the University of Manitoba Preparatory Department with Laurie Duncan and Ann Lugsdin, theory with Caron Whitlaw-Hiebert, Ruth Douglas, and piano pedagogy with Christopher Kowal. Current studies include jazz and improvisation with Willie Myette from Rhode Island, USA and Gord Braithwaite from Toronto.
Ms. Spencer has been teaching piano to children and adults of all ages and levels for over 25 years. She has prepared many students for Royal Conservatory examinations, for festivals, recitals, and auditions, and continues to perform as a soloist in recitals for charity, and as an accompanist.
Mimi Spencer was church organist and choir director at St. Mary's Anglican Church in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba for five years before relocating to Brampton, Ontario. Ms. Spencer currently maintains a busy teaching schedule and serves as Treasurer on the executive committee of the Ontario Registered Music Teachers' Association, Etobicoke-Mississauga Branch, and as GTA Zone Representative and Young Artist Tour Coordinator for Ontario Provincial Council.
