Maya Djafarova, founder of Alania Music and Director of World Academy of Music.

Maya Djafarova is an experienced classical piano teacher and performer from Moscow, Russia. She holds a Diploma in music pedagogy, Bachelor's and Master's degree in piano performances. Before Maya immigrated in 2001 to Canada, she successfully taught children for 40 years. In Russia she worked as a professor at Moscow City College, with her students often winning awards in performances.

Her teaching combines the rich tradition of the famous Russian piano school with her own developed pedagogy approach and practice techniques. Maya's teaching methods, personal attention and individual approach results in outstanding students performances. Maya's students have often won awards at Moscow City Concerts, European and now at Canadian, USA piano competitions.

The majority of her students, upon graduation, continued with their careers in music and many went on to major in music at the University level. The classes always had a special atmosphere of warmth and friendliness.
