Melissa Bencic holds M. Mus. in Opera Performance from McGill, a B. Mus. in Opera Performance from UBC. She is the Founder and Artistic Director of Bravo Academy and is active as a performer, voice instructor and stage director. Her studies have taken her throughout Canada and Europe.

Melissa performs both nationally and internationally in opera, operetta, oratorio, musical theatre, and concerts. She has performed in a number musicals such as West Side Story, Annie, Sound of Music and favourite opera roles include: Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, Adele in Die Fledermaus, Zerlina in Don Giovanni and Gretel in Hansel and Gretel. Melissa has stage directed a number of musicals for Bravo Academy including Les Miserables, Little Women The Broadway Musical, Anne of Green Gables, Cinderella, and Oklahoma. For Opera York she has stage directed Don Giovanni, Carmen, La Traviata and Barber of Seville.

As a teacher Melissa's students have received much success in RCM/CC exams, festivals and competitions, university entrance, attaining musical theatre and opera roles. Her students are performing throughout Canada and right now can be heard in Sound of Music with Mirvish. Melissa was the past Vice President of the Central Toronto Branch of ORMTA and is a member of NATS.
