How to Join Musical Staff Art
What does it mean..."a Registered Music Teacher"
To be a member of the Association one must hold a degree or diploma from a recognized university or conservatory or meet the necessary qualifications set down by the registering province, thus ensuring a high level of training and a commitment to professionalism.

The Registered Music Teachers' Association is a Canada-wide federation of private music teachers encompassing ten provinces, with over 3,200 members. A Registered Music Teacher is a member of the provincial association, which is affiliated with the national association (CFMTA).

The aim of CFMTA is to encourage and provide the highest calibre of music eduation possible and to promote high standards of music in each community.

How ORMTA Works:
  1. The ORMTA is decentralized. Its branches work in an autonomous way. This allows workshops, meetings and recitals to be more accessible to teachers within their own area.
  2. The ORMTA does not employ a full-time staff. It is run by the teachers themselves. You can attend your branch meetings, and may choose to contribute to its operation by being on the executive committee. The personal contact with your peers allows you to make yourself known, exchange valuable ideas, or express your concerns during meetings.
  3. You may choose to attend provincial and federal meetings for similar purposes.
  4. The ORMTA is not affiliated with one particular music school. It encourages its members to choose the examination system they prefer.
