Joseph Ferretti has performed in Europe, Canada and the USA as both soloist and collaborative artist. Some recent performances include the Canadian Opera Company’s Piano Virtuoso Series, CMC’s New Music in New Places, NUMUS, Toronto’s Nuit Blanche Festival, numerous university concert series, and with such ensembles as the KW symphony’s Canadian Chamber Ensemble and the Talisker Players. Joseph performs often as a duo with Elaine Lau, with whom he has recorded for Capstone Records.
Dr. Ferretti enthusiastically teaches students of all ages. In addition to maintaining his private studio in Toronto, he has taught piano at Wilfrid Laurier University’s Faculty of Music since 2003, and has held positions at the Pennsylvania Governor’s School of the Arts and Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp. He is active across Canada as an RCM examiner and festival adjudicator, and has presented for numerous institutions and community outreach events.
Joseph received his Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from the University of Colorado-Boulder, where he was honoured as both Outstanding Junior and Outstanding Senior in the College of Music. At the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, he taught both undergraduate and graduate secondary piano while receiving his Masters and Doctoral degrees.
