Heidi Saario is a passionate educator and maintains a private studio in Toronto teaching students of all ages and levels. She also works as an adjudicator and is a member of the College of Examiners of the Royal Conservatory of Music. Heidi Saario has studied both in Finland and Canada. She earned Bachelor of Music in Music Pedagogy from Helsinki Conservatory as well as Master of Music in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from the Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory of Music. Heidi Saario studied with Leslie Kinton and Anne Kuusanmaki and complemented her studies in Master Classes with Liisa Pohjola, Matti Raekallio, and Teppo Koivisto in Finland and with Jane Coop, Marc Durand, Robert McDonald, and John Perry in Canada.
Aside from teaching, Heidi Saario is a versatile musician as a soloist and a collaborative pianist. Her performances take her into many communities across Ontario as well as other provinces in Canada. In recent years Ms. Saario has added a Scandinavian focus in her repertoire. Her debut CD Jean Sibelius - Compositions for Piano was released in 2008. This recording highlights rarely heard solo piano pieces by a Finnish composer Jean Sibelius. Her active collaboration with soprano Cindy Koistinen as Duo Freya produced another recording Diamonds of the North - Songs from Scandinavia in 2010.
