BiographyMaria Molinari is active both as an educator and as a composer. She has been a clinician for the Alliance for Canadian New Music Projects' composer workshops, has conducted workshops for the Chamber Music Society of Mississauga's Composer in the Classroom project, and has lectured to the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education on teaching composition in the classroom. She is active as a music festival adjudicator and has served as a theory examiner for the Royal Conservatory of Music. Premieres of her works have been presented by violinist Moshe Hammer with pianist Marc Widner; the Chamber Music Society of Mississauga and National Ballet of Canada dancer/choreographer Stephanie Hutchison. Her television scoring credits include the animated series Freaky Stories and the science fiction series Mutant X. Her setting of Willow Song from Shakespeare's Othello was a prize winner in the Stratford Festival of Canada's Composition Contest for Young Composers held in honour of its 50th anniversary in 2002. Ms. Molinari is a graduate of the University of Toronto (BMus in Theory and Composition) and the University of Southern California (Graduate Certificate in Scoring for Motion Pictures and Television) where she studied with Alexander Rapoport, Harry Freedman, Elmer Bernstein, Leonard Rosenman, David Raksin and Christopher Young.
