Marjorie BeckettInstrument(s) Taught: PIANOMembership Status: Semi-Retired Tel: 416-927-0220 BiographyMarjorie Beckett was the youngest pupil ever accepted by Lyell Gustin, the Canadian leader of the Leschetizky Association. As a performer she received many awards including two Canada Council grants to study piano accompaniment in Germany and Austria. She has held appointments at several colleges and universities. Recognized as a leading teacher, her students have won national ad international awards and have advanced to musical careers of their own. Between 1980-2000, Mrs. Beckett was co-director of the Beckett School in Waterloo, Ontario. In demand as an adjudicator throughout Canada, Mrs. Beckett also conducts workshops in large and small centres nationwide. Along with her many achievements in music, she was honoured as Business Woman of the Year in 1988, and received in 1992 the Arts Award in the category of Educator for her contributions to the community.
