Biography

A native Torontonian Marion runs an active private piano studio in Pickering preparing students for Royal Conservatory examinations and local festivals, as well as teaching at Alexander's Music Studios where she is co-owner, with her husband Brian.

In addition to her Royal Conservatory Piano Teachers A.R.C.T., she is a graduate of the Bigler~Lloyd-Watts Piano Pedagogy Programme for which she has been appointed Teacher Trainer, and has also taken Introductory Adjudication with James Lawless at the Glen Gould Professional School. She has an ongoing interest in pedagogical techniques with a particular interest in the integration of students who have started their piano experience in other programmes (Suzuki, Music for Young Children, Orff) into the RCM Certificate Programme, as well as application of the Alexander Technique to Piano. She has studied with Ron Tomarelli, taken Master Classes with Boris Zarankin and continues to study with Shirley Kwok.

She is the Pickering Exam Centre Representative for Royal Conservatory of Music Examinations (RCME), and an active member of the Ontario Registered Teachers Association, being President of the Ajax-Pickering Branch, and a past GTA Zone Representative on Provincial Council.
Before deciding to concentrate on Piano, she studied voice with Mary Lou Fallis, and sang with Sweet Adelines and then the Amadeus Choir, under Barbara Hodgins and Lydia Adams. While with the Scarborough Sweet Adelines she competed with the chorus in the 1977 International Sweet Adeline Competition in London, England.
