Biography

The study of Keyboard Harmony affords piano players and non-piano players the development of an ear for playing and thinking in a key, to hear music in more than one part and to recognize harmonic progressions in any music heard. The subject can be an adjunct to RCM written Theory exams or direct credit for RCM Grade 3, 4 or 5 Harmony.

Also taught, written Theory and several ARCT Composition papers.

She also welcomes Adult Beginners wishing to play keyboard by ear or read music quickly. She has developed in 25 years teaching experience an approach that grew out of students' interests - short term study oriented to the goal of a lifelong ability to pick up a music book and play, to pick out a melody by ear and add chords. Any recording or any written music in any style may be brought for study.

Formal studies include an ARCT in Composition, 1991 from the Royal Conservatory, and a Bachelor of Music in Composition, 1992 from the University of Toronto, both with high standing during which time she collected in-house and graduating scholarships, was committed to piano studies, other instrumental, education courses and additional teaching and related certificates.

As a Composer she has written award-winning music for film, theatre, orchestra, concert ensembles, and other media. Her film scores include the feature film Amor Violento (May 2005), now playing in the U.S, and International Film Festivals Canadian Short Elephant Shoe.
