Elaine Lau has appeared as keyboardist and soloist with Canadian orchestras, and has been broadcast on Public Radio in the United States, performing Canadian works. A new music enthusiast, Elaine has had the opportunity to perform at the Eckhardt-Gramatt&eqcute; Competition for contemporary Canadian music and collaborate with many composers, premiering works for solo and duo piano, as well as toy piano. Recent new music appearances include performances with the Canadian Chamber Ensemble, and on the NUMUS and Canadian Opera Company's Piano Virtuoso concert series. As duo-pianist with Joseph Ferretti, she has performed across Canada and the USA, including concerts at the Banff Centre, the Royal Conservatory of Music, McMaster University and the Blue Lake Fine Arts Festival. The duo has premiered many works; their recording of music by Jack Behrens is being released by Capstone Records later this year.
Elaine holds a Masters Degree in Piano Performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where she studied with Eugene and Elizabeth Pridonoff. She also received her Artist Diploma in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from the Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory of Music. Elaine is also in residence as a coach and collaborative pianist at the Pennsylvania Governor's School for the Arts during the summer, where she works with talented high school music students. She remains dedicated to teaching and has served on the piano faculty at Wilfrid Laurier University since 2003.
