Greater Toronto Area Zone Competitions

 

Congratulations to all the students, teachers, adjudicators, and volunteers who made the 2011 ORMTA GTA Zone Competitions a success! Held on May 15 at the Aurora Cultural Centre in Aurora, Ontario, attendees were treated to a high standard of musical performance.

Congratulations to the winners of the following competitions:

Level "A" Young Artist (Associate)
Winner: Cristina Pisani – Etobicoke-Mississauga

Level "B" Instrumental (Grades 10&/11)
Winner: Eddie Wang – Markham-Stouffville
Runner-up: Patrick Tomczyszyn – Bolton-Brampton-Caledon

Level "C" Instrumental (Grades 8&/9)
Winner: Anh Lam – Central Toronto
Runner-up: Enoch Leung – Markham-Stouffville

Winners from the Level “A” and Level “B” competitions now move on to represent the Greater Toronto Area at the 2011 ORMTA Provincial Competitions taking place on Saturday, January 23, 2011 at the Stage West Hotel in Mississauga, Ontario. The 2011 GTA Zone Competitions wish to give special thanks to our adjudicators, Carolyn Jones (piano), and Penelope Dale (voice) for their insightful critiques, and to members of the Newmarket and Area Branch of the ORMTA for acting as hosts and providing volunteers for this year’s competitions.

Information on the 2012 GTA Zone Competitions will be posted on this web page in the fall of 2011.

If you are an ORMTA member and interested in having your students participate in one of these competitions, they must perform in your local branch’s audition to qualify. Please click on "Branches" in the above menu for info from a local branch. When applying, indicate on their branch audition application form that they wish to use the audition as a qualifier for a zone competition.
