The following are Awards & Scholarships that are eligible to students
of Central Toronto Branch members:
Recital Scholarships:
All recital scholarships are awarded at the discretion of the Recital
Adjudicator
- Outstanding Performance Scholarships
$50-Elementary, $60-Junior, $75.00-Senior
Awarded for outstanding performances at both the Fall and Spring Scholarship Recital.
- Overall Outstanding Performance Scholarship
$100.00
Awarded for an overall outstanding performance, Junior or Senior, at the Spring Scholarship Recital.
- Sir Ernest MacMillan Scholarship
$50.00-Junior, $75.00-Senior
Awarded for an outstanding performance of a work by a Canadian Composer at the Fall Scholarship Recital.
- Maria Case Trophy
Awarded for an outstanding performance, Junior or Senior, of a work by a Canadian Composer at the Spring
Scholarship Recital.
- Ann Scott Mumford Memorial Recital Scholarship
$100.00
Awarded to a piano student, Grade 9 or higher, for an outstanding performance of one movement from a Mozart
Sonata at the Fall or Spring Scholarship Recital.
Examination Scholarships:
Teachers should mail a copy of exam results to the Branch President
no later than four months after the date of the examination.
Theory Exam Scholarships
Awarded to students who received outstanding marks for theory exams in individual subjects (see below). A
Branch member must have prepared the student for the exam. A student can only be eligible for one scholarship
per exam session. The maximum number of Scholarships that can be awarded from a single exam session is five.
In the event that the number of eligible scholarship recipients exceeds five, priority will be given to those students
with the highest marks. Scholarships will be mailed after the 4 month period.
- Grade 2 Rudiments 100% $35.00
- Introduction to Harmony 90%
or higher $35.00
- Grade 3 Harmony or History 85% or higher $35.00
- Grade 4 Harmony, History or Counterpoint 85% or higher $50.00
- Grade 5 Harmony, History or Analysis 85% or higher $50.00
Ann Scott Mumford Memorial Exam Scholarship - $100.00
Awarded to a piano student receiving the highest mark for their Grade 10 examination in a school year (September
to August).
