Auditions & Recitals

Along with a variety of scholarships, the Central Toronto Branch offers two Auditions and Scholarship Recitals each school year.

Audition Rules and Regulations

  1. 1) Candidates must be students of members in good standing of the Ontario Registered Music Teachers' Association.
    2) The auditions and recitals are open to students, (pianists, vocalists, and all instrumentalists) from Grade 1 to ARCT. We welcome repertoire from a variety of syllabi, including popular listings. Also, please note that DUETS and ENSEMBLES are welcome.
  2. At the audition students may play a maximum of THREE pieces. The total time for each student must not exceed the maximum times shown below. Students will not be allowed to play past their time limit.
  3. Candidates must submit a score of the music for the Adjudicator at both the Audition and the Recital.
PHOTOCOPIED MUSIC IS ILLEGAL AND WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED
  4. All piano and vocal pieces must be memorized. Other instrumentalists are not required to play from memory, but should provide a score of the music for the adjudicator. It is the responsibility of vocalists and instrumentalists to provide an accompanist for accompanied repertoire.

    • Consult your syllabus for correct spellings, composers' initials, opus numbers, movements and keys.
