ARCT at 17, Mus.Bac in School Music at U. of T. As undergrad, directed operetta Naughty Marietta, also the U.C. Singers for 1 year. Was ass't conductor of The Hart House Glee Club for 5 years and conducted his own 9-man choral group, The Varsiteers.. Studied composition after graduation with John Weinzweig, Oskar Morawetz and Godfrey Ridout for 2 1/2 years. Trained as teacher and taught in Waldorf Schools in New York, England and Germany for 7 years. Returning to Toronto in 1963, taught piano at the Royal Conservatory and keyboard harmony at the U.of T., becoming an examiner for both. Also helped start Toronto Waldorf School. Left in 1968 for the USA and South Africa for 14 years to work with, and live with, the mentally handicapped. For one year, was a pianist for the Eurythmy School in Spring Valley, N.Y.
Returned to Toronto in 1983 to stay. Has been teaching piano at the Toronto Waldorf School, and in his own and others' homes. Played the piano for eurythmy classes for many years. Played a few concerts, e.g. 3 Lecture-Recitals of Beethoven Sonatas. Organist and Choir Director for Church of the Epiphany in Scarborough for 12 years. Recorded two CD's of "Relaxing, meditative piano improvisations"--Transparencies and Transparencies Too. Published in 2006 a book he had worked on, off and on, for over 40 years--The Spiritual Basis of Musical Harmony. Now semi-retired, but still teaching piano and theory.
